What Size Shoe Does Michael Strahan Wear
Michael Strahan is a lot of things. He's a pro football Hall of Famer. He's a television host. He's a begetter of four. And — he'due south a clotheshorse. And a damn proud ane at that.
"Everything's a splurge! I love everything," says Strahan. "I buy a lot of shoes . . . shoes are very important, tops an outfit. And I love watches.
"Like, people count their suits and say, 'Oh, I take 20 or five suits or iii suits,' and I count suits — and I give away 30 or 40 suits a year — and I have, mayhap conservatively, at to the lowest degree l. It could be over 100. It'southward an insane amount," he admits. "And my suits aren't your usual size, so I need more than space than everybody else."
Very fiddling is "usual" about Strahan, 43, who went from existence an Army brat in Frg to a New York Giants superstar to Kelly Ripa's happy-go-lucky co-host on "Live! with Kelly and Michael" in 2012.
"A lot of these Giants fans, peculiarly the men who used to get, 'I loved yous with the Giants!,' now go, 'I love you with Kelly!' " says Strahan, sitting in a chauffeured SUV post-Alexa shoot, en road to an early on business dinner at Milos in Midtown.
"They're fans considering they're behind you," he says. "At that place is no other team . . . it'due south been interesting to see the whole way that people have adjusted their attitudes toward me."
Strahan ought to brace for more adjustments now that he's adding two more than jobs — suit designer and self-help-book author — to a résumé already as wide every bit his shoulders.
Before this month, the bicoastal football fable (who also flips houses in his spare time) launched a line of men'southward clothing with JCPenney chosen Collection by Michael Strahan.
Strahan oversees everything from ties to cuff links and — most important — pant length.
"I know you lot wanna prove your socks, but I like a tailored suit that fits. Non, 'OK, I put it in the washer and it came out this style,' " says Strahan, who got his sartorial fumbles out of the way in college.
"Oh, it was bad," he says with a hearty express joy. "I call back having olive, purple, and dark-green pants, and then having a shirt that had splotches of all the different colors on it, so you could mix up the shirt with the unlike colour pants . . . things that y'all look at now and think, 'Why would I even attempt to pull that off?' "
While a vast arsenal of custom suits has made Strahan a better-dressed human being, the truthful secrets to happiness lie within.
In his new book, "Wake Up Happy," out Oct. 13, the perpetually positive Strahan shares his tips for keeping a grinning on your face up (gapped teeth not included).
"You've got more money in your attitude than in your banking company business relationship. If you've got the right attitude, you'll make enough money to do whatever the heck you want," says Strahan, who says he'southward happiest when he's well-rested, well-fed and with his kids.
Information technology's amazing he has any time to see them given his weekends flying out to Los Angeles, where he moonlights equally a football analyst on "Fox NFL Sunday"; his daily evidence with Ripa; early a.g. appearances on "Good Morning America"; and other gigs, including a cameo stripping in "Magic Mike XXL."
"When you rip off your pants and start grinding and picking the girl up and jumping over her and massaging her, it is so scary," says Strahan of his steamy scenes in the 2015 moving picture. "But after the first fourth dimension, you literally say to yourself, 'Huh. I wanna do that again!' "
The Texas Southern University grad says maintaining cordial relations with his two ex-wives has been integral to keeping the family unit of measurement intact.
"I think the biggest thing is, y'all do what you've gotta do for your kids. That'southward what'south well-nigh important. Information technology's non almost you at that bespeak," says Strahan.
He has a daughter, 23, and son, xx, with his kickoff wife, Wanda Hutchins, whom he divorced in 1996, and twin daughters, Sophia and Isabella, 11, with his second wife, Jean Muggli, whom he married in 1999 after meeting at a Manhattan spa. They went through an begrudging divorce seven years afterwards.
"I don't concur any ill will. We're two people who were together and loved each other, and that's why nosotros had kids and had these relationships, but when that's over, that doesn't mean you stop caring about or mistreat somebody," says Strahan.
In 2007, he hooked up with Eddie Tater's ex, Nicole Mitchell. Despite allegedly attaching a GPS to her machine amid suspicions of infidelity, the two became engaged in 2009. They broke it off in 2014 due to distance and work schedules, according to the stars' reps.
Now single, Strahan says he's looking for a "classy woman" to have to one of his favorite engagement spots: Mario Batali's Babbo or Bobby Flay's Gato. (Merely please go on your rima oris airtight when y'all chew: "The smacking reminds me of my dad," Strahan says.)
And while the erstwhile defensive stop may expect like a macho human being, ladies need not fret: His gentle Giant enjoys a adept dazzler treatment.
"Yep, real men do facials," says Strahan, who has a go-to facialist in Los Angeles. "I just lay back and let her take control," he adds.
Manicures, though, are another obstacle.
"Man! My easily are and then ugly, what woman would want to impact these things?" asks Strahan, an admitted nail-biter.
"It's similar when I run into a horse, 'I know you don't want me to ride y'all, buddy. I'm as well heavy.' "
With Strahan'south size, shopping off-the-rack is an impossibility. He works closely with stylist Victoria Trilling on the custom suiting he needs for his myriad Tv set gigs. "As his style and influence became more than recognizable," Trilling says, "the prospect of his own line became a reality." The "Collection by Michael Strahan" suits unfortunately weren't ready for the shoot (but are now available for men of every shape). For Alexa, Trilling opted for Tallia, Strahan's go-to for fabricated-to-measure out habiliment.
